My husband and I are currently binge-watching MasterChef season 8. It’s one of my favourite cooking shows. Usually the dishes the contestants come up with are so sophisticated that I couldn’t even guess what they taste like. However, in one of the last episodes we watched, the challenge was to serve perfect scrambled eggs. Up until that point I was fairly convinced that my scrambled eggs were ok. Nothing to brag about, nothing worth posting here but definitely edible. Boy, was I wrong.
Scrambled Eggs Ramsay Style
Before getting the MasterChef contestants to cook scrambled eggs, he showed them how to and also mentioned that there is a YouTube video of him explaining it. Here it is:
I love watching Gordon Ramsay cook. He’s like a squirrel on caffeine. I also find it refreshing to see that even he burns toast every now and then.
One of the most valuable lessons I learned from this video is not to season scrambled eggs before they are (just about) done. I had no idea this affects the colour of the eggs. Also, I always used to scramble the eggs before adding them to the pan. Basically, I did everything wrong. ;)
Unsurprisingly, eggs á la Gordon Ramsay were amazing. The texture was perfect – light, fluffy and creamy. I can only recommend this and am already looking forward to next weekend!
