My husband and I have become true burger snobs.
I remember the first time we traveled to the UK together (I believe it was in 2006?). Back then we were super excited about the Quarter Pounder with Cheese from McDonald’s. While McDonald’s serves the same kind of food around the world, there are local differences. I don’t know what it’s like now but back then the Quarter Pounder wasn’t available in Germany. Therefore, in order to broaden our culinary horizons, it was something we had to get during our visit to the UK ;)
Nowadays we’re a little more difficult to please. Luckily, the UK has a lot more to offer than fast food restaurants. In fact, one of the most amazing burgers I’ve had so far comes from a small local pub (if you’re ever near Wolverley make sure to visit The Lock Inn).
We’re equally picky when it comes to vegetarian burgers. We’ve tried many but often they’re too dry, bland or too healthy. That’s where this beautiful quinoa burger comes in…!
Supreme Quinoa Burger with Cheese
The supreme quinoa burger is packed with flavour, it’s juicy and it’s crispy – all the things you want a good burger to be! Unlike many other vegetarian burgers this one does not contain black beans. Instead, I used cannelli beans, quinoa and cheese (gouda or cheddar). Beans and cheese for texture and flavour and quinoa for the crisp!
Also, go wild with the toppings! Caramelised onions, onion rings, veggies or even a fried egg on top – it works and it’s good!
